No question. I’m still learning and experimenting with the wings. The reeds are much more live and remain so longer. It takes little time and effort but makes a real difference. Thanks.

After watching Jay’s video, I ordered the geeklet and also got the reeds at the same time. After using the tool, I broke two reeds already, but I am sure it’s all user error and nothing to do with the tool. Brand new at this but I am confident that with time and practice, hopefully will get better with the reeds and my sax playing.

I find this much better and more functional that my old reed knife.

It is extremely easy to use. I was surprised at how much material came off the back of the reed I was using and the first two unplayable reeds I used it on actually made them play well. I’ve thrown away a lot of reeds over the years that probably could have been saved. There’s more but i will keep this short. Thanks!

It’s a must-have as far as I’m concerned.

I (used to) struggle to find reeds that respond how I’d like- with the Geeklet, I can balance and shape every reed so it is as good as it can be. That doesn’t mean it makes every reed a 10/10, but 2 minutes can take just about every reed to at least a 7 or 8. I tell everyone I play with how much it has improved my performance and experience, and encourage everyone to give it a try. Considering the number of reeds and mouthpieces we all try just to change our sound a little bit, this tool costs less and has a more substantial impact than I could have imagined.

David, That’s the way to go. I have one in every sax case too. Don’t want to be without it ever!

James, this is great to hear. Glad you experimented and looked for the limits of what is possible with the Geeklet. Enjoy the new found control over your reeds’ performance!

I received the geeklet in a few days, and decided to challenge it right away. I had a reed that was like trying to play with a 2×4 on the mouthpiece. I used the video guide as a reference, and it definitely improved a bit, but was still stiff and dull. Because this reed was in my “throw away” bin, I wanted to see what would happen if I was aggressive. So I used the “eraser” side of the geeklet on the front of the reed, either side of the spine, and “went to town.” Probably about 5x more shaving than the guide showed. Same for the siding. Result? It’s the best sounding reed I’ve played! If it can resurrect a 2×4, imagine what it can do for a decent reed. Obviously you take it easy and keep working the reed until it meets your expectations. I’m just mad that I didn’t buy this 50 years ago!

Thanks Jay, and Better Sax, and Reed Geek. Cheers! — James
